Very nice, Xristina. It is a beautiful Kazakh necklace, silver with some gilding. They call that 'dusted with gold'.;) Could we see the back, and the clasp?
Kazakhstan is the biggest country in Central Asia.
Glass inlay.:) The beads are glass as well. Red is a protective colour, much used in ethnic/folk jewellery. In this case the colour is more important than the material.

Thank you, thank you ! I would never figured it out by myself that is from Kazakhstan.. :shame:
    I will take pictures tonight.
In my native country (Eastern Europe) we also have the belief that red will protect you from the evil eye/spirits.. that's why young babies need to wear read (even a red string will do) ;):)

Yes, I think there are similar things all over Europe with colour symbolism, especially red. The special value of red is also found in North Africa and the Middle East.
It is also why so much ethnic/folk jewellery has red garnets and red coral.
    Which country are you from?

Your English is fine Xristina, and I suspect your Romanian is even better.:playful: Being Romanian you probably speak other languages as well.

Doesn't matter, you are doing your best, and doing a great job in a language that is very different from your mother tongue.

Even most of us USA-born Americans don't speak English properly! (LOL) Just ask the British contingent.

Here is the back of the necklace and the clasp.. I think the clasp & the hoop are a replacement..

Thanks, Xristina. My guess is late 20th century, but entirely traditional. They still wear these.
It could have had a hook clasp, like this one:

In this case a replacement doesn't affect the value.:)

Your English is just Great, Xristina. My brain was never able to grasp learning a second language. I admire anyone who can tackle more than one language.

    Nice Necklace. :)

Thank you.. I was thinking to replace the clasp, as I don't like the existing one and I don't think is silver either..

Exactly... can we please swap brains from time to time ? :shame:;)

I know one word of Romanian: Naroc!

We have a fab local Romanian butcher - they sell amazing sausages and some rather fine wines, too. And I am very partial to Romanian bread.
