Featured Origin of basket?

    I was wondering the origin of this basket? Measures 15 3/4 inches diameter. Thank you for any info

    Hopi. Native American. "Second Mesa coiled plaque."

    The key clues are the start of the basket, at the center, which looks like the way a center of a snail shell looks: gradually expanding from a "point" to the size of the coils in the rest of the basket. The other key is the "end" of the basket, gradually decreasing in size, until it blends in with the with the rest of the basket.

    Similar baskets are made in Africa, with similar designs, but won't be made from the same materials, or have the same start and finish.
