Wanted to know what version of the Fairbairn Sykes fighting knife would have been issued to a U.S. Marine attached to the OSS in 1943. Preliminary research indicates the earliest issue was made in Connecticut in 1941-2, but soon found to be defective, so British made versions were then provided to the OSS - I see type 1, type 2, and type 3 of the English knives. Of course, after the war, many manufactures around the world produced these. Any input is helpful.

Knowing what it is....that was easy.....but knowing it's history.....that will require some digging....& even then, I expect that marine would be issued the same blade as those of his counterparts..

I’d put the question on a blade forum as it needs people with very detailed knowledge.
