Oval Domed Box; SP on Alpaca, Gold-Washed Interior

It is ~3 3/4" long, ~3 1/8" wide, ~2" high with cover in place; it weighs ~2 3/4 oz. The plating is mostly gone, save for the exterior bottom where yellow brass shows plainly. The cover, 'tho, strongly suggests CuNi as its base material. The interior is golden in color, but I'm only guessing it has been 'washed' or otherwise thinly covered with anything containing gold. There are no seams; both box & lid are drawn an' trimmed from flat 0.022" stock; there are no sharp edges.
It has been marked on the inner bottom (pics 7, 9 & 10); the entire stamped impression is <1/8" square. The mark is impossible for me to even get my loupe close enough to resolve the image, an' presents difficulty in photographing...those pics may offer something recognizable to y'all, but I can only hope.
It has been called a soap-dish by more than one person, but I don't think so, somehow...'tho I have seen soap bars of that oval pillow shape; long ago, in Mom's dresser, but they were smaller, iirc.
Whatever you can add to this sketchy story will be welcome as the sunshine on mockingbird hill! Thanks for lookin'!

 

Odd that the decoration on the lid is not symmetrical, the lines are not exactly opposite each other.

I tried to tweak the mark, but not sure it is any help

 

Made to look hand-made possibly? It does look like a soap holder, for when soap bars were often oval. That said, I'd be thinking hairpins.

 

or maybe the lines were added by hand...!!
