Featured PAINTED TAMBERINE - IS THAT A SIGNATURE?

    Found this thrift store hunting yesterday. It is paint.
    Is that the artist's name?
    Anyone seen something like this before? Is it a tourist piece? From where?

    And an older one. Looks as if it might be 1950s. Bueno would be the artist's name but unimportant.

    El Albaicin is beautiful, and you do see dancing Gypsies there from the nearby Sacromonte, a mountain where they live.
    It is one of those things every souvenir shop used to sell. I agree the style looks 1950s, but I still saw these in Andalusia in the early 80s.

    It’s pretty cool how there’s a convex lens/exaggerated perspective effect on the dancer only.

    It is one of the famous Albaicin stilt-flamenco dancers, you don't see them much nowadays. The stilts are always painted black and pink. A rare item.:pompous::D
