    Parasol rather than umbrella.

The search terms "Chinese painted umbrella" (with acknowledgement that it's a parasol) will bring up other examples.

Age ... could be 40 years old, and it could be 3 weeks. They're still being made.

Given handle decoration, think not new new but not old old either.

And I thought I was being clear by putting it in the "not-really-new but not-really-old" range!

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I agree... although definitions of "new" and "old" could vary. "Not new" could = before 2013. "Not really old" could = later than 1990. So a possible range could be 1990-2012?

Oh Debora, you have "made" my night and "made" my day tomorrow and many other days by saying what I so often say (that being the doubling of words for emphasis, e.g. sweet sweet, good good, bad bad). ;)
