I'm looking for bendable mending plates used to secure oil paintings in frames but I can't find anything. I've found mend plates like this:

    https://framewareinc.com/store/mending-plates

but they aren't bendable. An art restorer I used to go had plates that were perfect (thin/bendable) for oil paintings but I've never been able to find them.

Can anyone suggest something I could use? Thank you.

I am having trouble visualizing this; do you happen to have a picture of one in use?

screw goes through frame, mend plate bends onto stretcher. It's pretty common to see and a much more preferable alternative to using nails.

Those are probably spring steel and should be available.

On stretchers that extend beyond the frame like this, you can put a screw eye in the side of the stretcher and then place a screw through the eye straight in to the frame. Maybe not as preferable as using a clip but an easy secure way to mount.

You can get really fancy and use pop top tabs. ;)

    Hi,
They make thin lead ones also. Perhaps I should have said made in years past. The three or four I have left are old. I used them on chairs that I wanted to give slightly but not a lot.

If you want it to look kind of funky but effective, and you are handy with tin snips, you can easily find some metal strapping for crates and make your own cross-corner strips.
There are tools to make these nicer.
    Yes, I’ve made such things.
Strapping is quite handy for many things. :)

Statcat- where did you find that picture?! Do you know anything about that painting, what its is where it came from?

If not does anyone know about that style of stretcher manufacturing in terms of region and date range?!

Maybe someone else will know about the stretcher.
