Pair Brass Pigeons

    Are you sure they are brass? I don't know where they were made and doubt they are really valuable but they are very charming in my opinion.

    Agree, the modeling is very nice. Are you sure there are not a pair of real pigeons under there? Kidding, sort of. There was a time when taxidermied specimens were 'petrified' by encrusting them with the calcium carbonate precipitated out of certain hot springs. A petrified wild boar had to be a real conversation starter!

    I believe it's brass or similar copper alloy.

    Make a small scratch somewhere inconspicuous - if it's bright orange/goldish then brass - if chalky then concrete. If silvery then maybe cast iron

    I only know about it because the same places made, and still make, cameos in a reverse process of filling in a mold instead of encrusting the outside of something. Think now they stick to plaques, vases. For anyone who wants details:
