Pair of Chairs

I've searched these chairs but haven't found anything indicating the maker. I've done a few searches and find comparable chairs but not the same style. I'm trying to determine if these are old OR just old-looking.

I think I saw that in my searches. Thank you for sharing! I'm guessing there isn't a definitive way to know what we have.

Why don't we focus on identifying the style and age of the chairs for you? That should give you a directional idea of value. (It's very often not possible to identify a maker, especially with foreign-produced pieces.) Not everyone here has expertise in furniture. And this is an international forum and members come and go at different times so it pays to be patient.

They're hall chairs for sure, with a decided Chinese influence. I don't know enough to know whodunnit or when. A hall chair means the seat is totally flat; they were made for display, and seating people you really didn't want to stay long. Those things hurt.

 

Definitely not old; whether considered to be old looking is a matter of opinion. Looks to be SE Asian in manufacture. Despite the price asked in one of the links, my opinion is that the value on these is fairly minimal.

They look European influenced but Chinese made, and so far all similar examples are Chinese made. Although Indonesian furniture makers will make anything, I would call these Chinese or East Asian rather than SE Asian.

 

I think Ghopper and Any Jewelry have got this right. Style is sort of Chippendale-ish but more Chinese than Western. Agree that there is not much age. Probably last quarter of the 20th century but could even be 21st. Hard to believe that we are already 25 years into this century

 

They are still making similar ones, probably also these ones. This style is currently popular with Chinese here in the Netherlands, probably elsewhere as well.
