Wonder why they made the lids with openings.
How do you read the signature?

    Thanks

    Louis.

WAG: put cork in for stoppers & use them as kitchen canisters. By using a funnel you could put flour and sugar in them.

thanks for the suggestions. But can't you just lift the lids and put in the jars whatever you want?

    Hi,
They were made by someone to look like the old jugs. The cork was just decoration. You did just lift the lid to fill or remove.

Agree with Greg, a studio potter's take. Nicely done for all that. Louis 1974, I think.

Not quite of a potter's take. Maybe after McCoy "cookie jugs".
