I have never had an interest in collecting dolls, but these were too good to pass up at a recent estate auction. I could really use suggestions on how to preserve them. The original clothing disintegrates every time they are moved. Is there anyone that has experience in this? I am also curious to see when and where these may be from. There are no visible markings, but I really don't know what I am looking for.

Unfortunatlely antique silk 'shatters', especially thin silk. I don't know of any remedy against it or way of preserving silk.

The one on the right looks a bit like a marionnette.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

TO ME, they seem to have a French look,(their clothing), but also I thought possibly marionettes!!

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

They look very old to me. I don't have experience with them, but do know to keep them away from sunlight or other very bright lights, and store in an area that is not too humid and not too dry. Check whether there happen to be any museums or professionals in your area that might have expertise. There is information online as well, if you want to mitigate any further deterioration.

The arched brows, cupid bow lips, hairdo and hat lead me to believe 1930s.
