They are two and three quarter inches tall and they look kind of Dutch to me what is your opinion? 20180920_202341.jpg 20180920_202352.jpg 20180920_202359.jpg 20180920_202406.jpg 20180920_202428.jpg

I've had them before, some with a Japan label and some with Japan stamped on the bottom, 1960s

I was thinking mid-20th century Japanese, too.

I agree, Ore Mountains region in southeastern Germany, formerly the GDR. The German name for Ore Mountains is Erzgebirge.
We had them as children. They had little knitted hats as eggwarmers, I don't know if they came with those.

What you said was all correct, I just agreed and elaborated.;)
Not as far to the east as Japan though, although they might have copied them.

once more your information is completely wrong. when talking from geographical zones it is Mitteldeutschland and partly Czechia.

    Are we being nice again?
The southern part of the former GDR is now regarded as southeast Germany. The German term Mitteldeutschland is only used in German.
You are correct that part of the Ore Mountains are in Czechia, but these were made in the GDR, as you already identified before, so there was no need to mention Czechia at the time.
I don't know why you wish to contradict yourself, but since that is what you are doing, this is where my involvement in this thread stops. I know what you are like when you get in this mood, and no one wants another 'Fid escalation'.
And remember, offensive posts will be removed. Again.

There is another, polite, way of communication, Fid.

As to “everything else” going on in this thread, Please Stop! I think the term I respectfully disagree could be used more often. No one likes to see people talking this way. It’s enough, please.

I have some that are similar (somewhere here) that came with little hats or bonnets.

I thought only those who made posts or a moderator could remove them. I don't like seeing people being dictated to or threatened either, so I agree with i need help on that.

You are absolutely right, I was referring to Davey having to remove Fid's offensive posts regularly, including at least one earlier today. (There could be more, I don't keep tabs of course.)
That is simply what I was reminding Fid of, trying to nip a repeat of Fid's earlier hatchet jobs on other forum members in the bud.

To be frank, I would like to leave the whole thing behind me, including Fid's personal attacks on several other forum members and his repetitive nasty comments on anything Dutch.
Mugz just asked for information, and that was all that was needed.

I feel my post may have been misunderstood. :( Jokes are one thing, but I don’t like insults. Just a request for general civility. If people disagree over an attribution, that happens all the time here, but doesn’t have to get personal.

About the egg cups... to play devil's advocate, wouldn't it be possible they were made in one country and imported to another? So in theory could be Japanese but found in Germany in an earlier time?

I don’t know enough about these to say. I just found some with different countries, so just assumed it might be “Unfigureoutable” :hilarious:
