Last time I saw one of these, they wanted nearly $1,000 for it. This was much more affordable. It arrived last week.

I also have a pair of footed, oval plates/platters on their way. They're modern reproductions, but are really high-quality. I can't wait! They were posted yesterday.

Nice find. That phoenix seems to be having fun.;)

I'm so glad to add it to my collection. I can't wait for the two plates to arrive. After that, I'm considering buying a vase / flowerpot. Those are usually *thousands* of dollars, but I found one that isn't so pricey.

I wouldn't have known what it was, but I'm glad someone did.

I only know these exist because I've seen them in museums.

i've heard of finger bowls, but they were only included with very ornate dinner porcelain services here. Never saw one on its own before.

Originally, it would've been part of a much larger, porcelain dining service, all with the same colour theme (pink & yellow), but they were often broke up over the years, and this is just...whatever's leftover.

    Broken up, or just broken.

Could be either. A lot of pieces were lost during WWII, what with air-raids and stuff like that.

That would do it. If it's Peranakan rather than just a borrowed design, earthquakes wouldn't have helped either.
