Art Deco perfume bottle. Sterling from Birmingham (got those) Stands 4-3/4” high

    Questions:

    1) Who was maker & is the date 1902?

    2) There is a second mark (the V) near where the fragrance emits. It is different than the one with the hallmarks. What would that stand for?

    3) is there a special name for this type of atomizer? You squeeze in the round metal bit.

As always, thank you in advance for your help! (I did check 925-1000)

Do a search on Ebay for Marcel Franck. You might get lucky.

I did see one similar with that name on Google. I’ll check eBay too. Is he the perfumer?

Not the perfumer. I am not sure if Franck did the bottles as well as the atomizer portion. @bercrystal might be able to fill in the blanks

So Marcel Franck made the hardware. He’s French. Would he have had someone in Birmingham manufacture it?

I'm not saying it was made by Marcel Franck, just it was a good place to start looking.

Guilloché (/ɡɪˈloʊʃ/),(or guilloche) is a decorative technique in which a very precise, intricate and repetitive pattern is mechanically engraved into an underlying material via engine turning, which uses a machine of the same name, also called a rose engine lathe.

Given the location of the V&C inside a diamond shape, I think that's the mark of either the maker of the atomizer attachment or the retailer (maybe perfume shop?)

Just came across a big pdf file at perfumebottles.org, goes back to 1700s. (Just for any future references, looks like a good source)

Where can we find it? Can we see it if we are not members?

Yes the hardware was made by Marcel Franke. I could not find that shape of head, but the pump mechanism is undeniably Franke's. The maker of the bottle may have worked with Franke to design a distinctive head that would go with their bottle.

It was (& is) not unusual for a company to purchase the hardware from other companies to be used on their bottles. Granted it was usually the other way around where DeVilbiss, Franke, Holmes, Volupte, etc. would purchase the bottles from companies to be used with their hardware.

DeVilbiss for example supplied hardware to many of the major commercial perfume houses such as Coty, Hudnut, Bourjois, Lucien Lelong, Elizabeth Arden Houbigant, Corday, Prince Matchabelli, etc. I actually have 2 of the Richard Hudnut bottles in my collection. The hardware is quite distinctive & as far as I have ever been able to determine they never used that hardware on any of their own bottles.
