    The base is antler,but there's nothing in the photos to suggest what the scrimshaw piece is besides being soft enough to scrimshaw.

    Fourth photo shows the more narrowly angled Schreger lines of mammoth ivory, as shown on the FWS site. Agree the base is a cross-section of antler.
