Featured Picture frame age

Anyone have an idea of the age of this frame . 90mm high possibly brass thanks

 

I would guess 1900 or so. Clean that poor thing!

 

any marks?

 

No marks but once I clean 100 years of grime off who knows will see

 

it reminded me a little..of mine..just a little though....

 

Cleaned it up came up ok no marks unfortunately left original picture in adds a little given age.

 

The frame looks a lot better!

Can you tell if the picture is a real photo, or some other kind of print? From here it looks like a print such as the type that might be put into a new frame in order to make it more interesting to potential customers. It also appears to be stained. Is the wrinkled material in the back a separate piece of material, or is it part of the picture?

 

I had a frame like this in the 70's but was told that it was actually quite new..they said the cross hatch effect was from molding process...never did find out for sure but maybe I gave away a treasure.....

 

Plastic sheet, picture is a print and stained and the backing looks like cardoard but is very hard and dense almost like a hard piece of leather it actually looks quite old chris

 

Thank you, Chris. I was just curious, really. It does appear to have been around for a while. And from what I can tell the image of the girl looks like an older style image.
