Hi all, a little help with dating and where was it made. I've had this for many years and just now was able to get the smell of moth balls out of the wood!!
Trunk is about 22.5 in high and deep and 45 and a bit inch long.
With the exception of the floor the sides and top are all single boards.
Not sure if the part on the left is called a candle box but it holds two secrets. If you take the small left hand board our it has a compartment that goes to the floor but is not visible from inside the trunk. If the upright board that forms the candle box is lifted, it reveal's a pull out drawer. I didn't discover this one until I had the box for many years.
Original? ox blood paint I think. The hinges appear replaced ?
    Any help appreciated thanks image1 (2).jpeg image2 (1).jpeg image4 (1).jpeg image6.jpeg image7.jpeg image8.jpeg image9.jpeg image10 (1).jpeg image11.jpeg image1 (2).jpeg image2 (1).jpeg image4 (1).jpeg image6.jpeg image7.jpeg image8.jpeg image9.jpeg image10 (1).jpeg image11.jpeg image12.jpeg

It appears similar to all the ones I get, Late Victorian, we call them blanket boxes or chests.

Thank you Dave. Are the hidden compartments normal?
