This was my great-grandfather's cruet (he collected them) and it has been in the family for a while. It is pink, dimpled, and has a young girl playing croquet on one side and flowers on the other. I would appreciate any information you can provide about it. Thank you!

I would search under "Cranberry" rather then pink. Try Fenton Cranberry Cruet in a search, It looks like Fenton to me.

Mike... one or both above were Cranberry! One was Fenton. Bet you're right!

It "could" be Fenton, but a lot of others made cranberry too, The Handle is throwing me off because I'm not sure Fenton did that kind of handle. the painting doesn't look too Fentonish to me, but it could be.

Darryl, , please add a pivture of the bottom of the Cruet, That may help somebody pin down the maker. If the Cruet is smooth in the middle of the bottom, run your finger over it and see if you can feel a raised area that might be a mark. sometimes they are easier to feel then see. ESPECIALLY with Fenton

Are the "dimples" on the inside or outside ? It looks like they are inside.

I'm thinking when Fenton issued their version of 'Mary Gregory' style cranberry glass that the pieces were signed by the artist. I have a neighbor who is a Fenton collector and has a cabinet full of their MG pieces.

Second Photo. Its the shape of Hobbs Brockunier's No. 312 oil. Fenton either had a mold from Hobbs, or had one made to match it. The stopper (as we all know may or may not be original) is NOT a Hobbs shape. I don't feel the oil is old, ie., 130 years, if it were Hobbs, I'd guess it to be from Fenton in the past 20 oor 30 (my how time flies) or 40 years old. It this does not have any pontil mark it's definitely from Fenton, Frank was proud of their ability to make blown wares without using a pontil rod.

Playing croquet is just about the only sport available to a young lady wearing a corset AND a huge bustle...

    :)
