The Italian term is "riempito" - a thin sheet of silver over either resin or "putty." In this case, the silver is sterling (925 in an oval) and you can only see one corner of the square in which the R (for riempito) appears. The amount of silver used in the creation should be represented bu 2 numbers - the partial 2? and partial 3? on the right side.

See mark #14 on this page for more details of the regulation under which this item is covered. http://www.silvercollection.it/italianhallmarks.html

The maker's registration (146 AN?) is also only partially impressed and should have a star on the left, in keeping with the 1970 rules.

Someplace on the forum there is more info on this type of die stamped resin/putty backed pieces.I think it may have had a video on the construction and they are made by the hundreds.
