Hi, I have this picture frame with British marks. After looking on-line at a few sites, my reading is Birmingham, Britannia Silver, 2004, with RH the maker. Just want to be sure since I'm not used to seeing marks without the lion passant. Also, am I correct that Britannia silver is just silver with a slightly higher content than sterling, 95.8% vs. 92.5%?

    Thanks! fr1-1.JPG fr1-4.JPG

Your understanding is correct - "Britannia" is just a bit more "pure" silver alloy than sterling. Birmingham and maker RH (which oddly because it's so recent, I haven't found a name for.) My online resources don't have Birmingham date letters past 1999.

Your reading appears correct to me.2004.
The alloy is 95.84% pure silver and 4.16 per cent copper or other metals.

The Birmingham Assay Office will tell you who dunnit. It doesn't really matter though.

Thanks Bear, I agree and am not concerned about the maker, just wanted to be sure about the rest.

Oh, you're spot on with the rest. It's good quality, too.
