Interesting chair. Looks like maple, also the upholstery makes me think 1950s. So that is my guess for time period.

Looks like the upholstery is in decent condition. Frankly, I like the way they did the back.
Are you keeping the chair or are you going to sell it?
If selling, I wouldn't put any money into upholstery. Let the buyer do it.

If keeping, you have to decide if it fits with your other furniture or if you would enjoy the chair with a different fabric and whether you want to put money into it.

There is a product called Howard's Restor-a-Finish. It will help cover some scuffs on the arms and legs. Then use beeswax.

    Wait for other opinions.

Oh and welcome to the board.

I can't tell if it's oak or maple. Hardwood, for sure.

I'd say it's a mid-20th century descendent of the great classical styles of previous centuries, i.e. Chippendale, etc.

I like the upholstery well enough that I would also keep it as-is. That's good advice from Cluttered about restoring the wood.

Nice chair! Very traditional in a time when modernism was taking over.

Agree with a post-war date, so late 40s-50s.
