This is a heavy cast iron box with a hinged lid. I know nothing more about it, other than it might be from Kasli ironworks. Might anyone know the approximate age?

Russian, 21st C. is my guess. What are dimensions please? "Heavy" to me is too heavy to lift, so maybe it is a coal storage bin.

I should rephrase that it is heavy for it's size. It is 2 1/2 inches high and 3 1/2 inches wide. It weighs close to 2 pounds.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

I was not familiar with the Kasli iron works. Some interesting information out there! And since you said that it "might" be from there, the word "КАСЛИ" on the bottom is KASLI, so you can be sure it's from there. (Unless it was a fake or something.)
