Hi. We have a vase, which to me seems like antique Japanese vase.

My dad got it from his dad, who got it from Germany after WW2 as trophy. Unfortunately the bottom of vase is damaged, so I cannot tell if there was any kind of sigil/mark in there. One of father's friend said it may be Meissen Porcelain. I know nothing more about it.

That sir, is a fine example of a 19thc Totai Shippo vase.

Well more properly, a Japanese lacquered Arita porcelain vase, Meiji period.

Shippo is actually cloisonee work which you often see on porcelain vases that have been lacquered.

I think this is rather lacquer on porcelain, not Totai. Nevertheless very beautiful!

This kind of piece is new to me and I'm just learning. But I do have some cloisonne on metal, and don't see any metal cloisons such as I see on traditional cloisonne. Instead it looks like moriage including gilt decoration?

    Welcome Max. Impressive vase.
I'm with Mat, lacquer on porcelain.
Red Army, I take it? It is amazing it didn't sustain more damage, given its history.

Ah, I see that is what Mat meant, lacquer on porcelain instead and not cloisonne.

    Thank you all for responses.
I can totally say it is not metal, I think it is porcelain as well.
Yes. It was taken to the local House of Military Officers, from where my father got it.

Is there a way to know it's age? Like do some checks? Is it really 19th century?
And what is the price for this kind of Vase?

Max, I can't see you shipping this giant vase internationally. So we're talking pick up in Yerevan, or maybe you delivering it in person to someone within driving distance from you. In that case you will have to check prices in Armenia.
Or sell to a local antiques dealer.

Are prices for antiques in Armenia anything like in Georgia? In that case maybe @Nick Georgia can advise you.

    Hello @Max Adamyan
This looks very nice! I don't think it is Meissen, It looks Japanese and I would say-end of the XIX century.
Price is difficult to say.Antique shops don't pay a lot but private collector with passion to Asian art would pay properly.
    Hai es eli?
