Featured Please help Identify this Piece of Horse Art

    horse1.jpg horse2.jpg horse3.jpg horse4.jpg horse5.jpg horse6.jpg A friend gave this to me today. I am not sure what the horse is made of. It is very light weight. I know the horse is not metal. It measures 13" tall and 17" across. Any and all info is appreciated

    A little decorative panel. It says "Flying Horse" to my eye.

    Agree. The one bit does seem to say Flying Horse. Maybe a souvenir from China.

    Apropos to nothing at all: When I've seen pictures of the figure in the past, it has always been called "Flying Horse": a horse poised on a swallow to symbolize flying. It's odd to me that the link I posted says "treading" on a swallow, which has a different connotation to my ear. I'll write it off to an unfortunate translation. So far as I know, the piece in the link is the source object for the panel.

    The panel looks like maybe it was once a lid to a wood box? Just saying..
