Please help identify what this is? small box with wax maybe?

    I have found this little item from past family members and I really have no idea what it actually is.

    Seems like a wax or some type of dried up balm inside. It does turn liquid if heated.

    The contents look similar to Tiger Balm.

    I would be more interested in the box than the contents.;)
    The box is from India. Probably low grade silver. The painting is inspired by the Mughal style, but not of the period.
