    Greetings, Emily!

Decor looks Japanese, but the mark doesn't. Was your Grandmother living in the UK at all?

I’d say your fish platter is in the style of Imari. Maybe someone will know more about it.

I was thinking maybe it’s an importer mark?

If you do a Google Image search for "Japanese Imari Fish Platter," lots of these will come up. They were a popular import in the late 1960s/early 1970s.

Do you know anything more about yours? What did your grandmother tell you about it? How long did she own it?

It was just me I'm sure, I was just surprised it was the first one that came up on Ebay. I was thinking I'd seen the mark before somewhere but didn't find it in a quick search. I wonder if it was on these boards. (looks like a comical bug with a hat on to me so it's probably some revered symbol:hilarious:)

All things could be true when it comes to origin and knowledge. shrug emoji smal purple.jpg

I think the mark is supposed to be some sort of flower perhaps. Leaf marks are also used. I agree from the decoration and colors used, that it could be late 19th/early 20th c.

I imagine my thoughts on the mark were likely swayed by the visit I had last year by a moth with the charming name of Beautiful Wood Nymph.
