I know they still make tube hinge but I think it is in Europe only? Can you tell me anything about this pin? It has a MMA or museum replica feel to it but those are usually marked The front almost looks like damascene and a men's tie print Help!! I do not know where to begin with this stumper

Believe you mean a trombone clasp rather than a tube hinge...

I will. I did not know that. This pin is weighty and constructed nicely. Can’t believe it’s not marked. Seeing @i need help ’s pin makes me think it is damascene. I had never seen it with the other colors. Maybe this is newer?? I’ll post whether or not it’s magnetic later. Ty!

Damascene, but not as high quality as the older tourist pieces. That back looks very new to me.

Damascene from Toledo, Spain. Maybe post 1990?
I still saw good quality in the 80s, but haven't been there since. Quality also depends on the workshop, some are better than others

It's beautiful! If it is not magnetic does this mean it is not real Damascene? I'm glad you made this thread because I never knew about this type of jewelry.

A few years ago when my daughter was 12 years old, she went to a garage sale at the end of the day. The lady that was selling her deceased mother's things handed her this bracelet and gave it to her for free.

My daughter gave it to me as a present and I never knew what it was until your posts. Mine doesn't stick to a magnet and for all I know it is a cheap, mass produced Chinese version of Damascene, lol. BRACELET 1.jpg

Thanks! I can't believe the woman gave it to my daughter for free. My daughter told her it was pretty and she handed it to her and told her to keep it. What a nice lady!

Faux damascene from Spain. Most real damascene is done on steel although the more expensive Japanese damascene can be done on Shakudo which is copper/gold alloy. example of Shakudo piece...

Yup, the bracelet is faux damascene, which is pressed and coloured brass. AKA Toledo Ware. That's a very nice one. 1960s.
