    Hello,

i'd like to id the sign of this Friar with chalice,

    painted on porcelain,

    cm 15x19, within frame (23,5x28,5)

    I can read " COP. TH.Z. "

I won it in Rome (Italy) is probably Italian and Cop. could mean Cooperative.

But I can not find other elements of knowledge.

Thanks a lot for your help

Thanks a lot for your reply,, I don't understand he was a politician in the 19th century, not a painter When youhave time. could you please give me some more information about him?
Then I also don't understand the meaning of copy, it's a not original Theodor Zeigler painting?
    Forgive my ignorance thanks.
    :)

I would like to improve my learning through this forum and your esteemed expertise, offering the following conclusive questions:

    - Since this painting is a reproduction, does it mean that there is therefore an original painting of a friar with a chalice made by theodor Ziegler?
    - if yes, why on the web, among his works, I can not find it?
    - what is the reason why someone should create a worthless reproduction and make it meticulously on porcelain? A waste of time and money, but then what was the advantage of those who made this reproduction?
    - For what reason, despite having space they wrote COP. instead of COPY? It was enough to put a y in place of the dot ... i can understand an abbreviation for a long word, like Copyright, but there is no sense to write Cop. as abbreviation of Copy ... they are 4 characters at the same ...

Thank you so much for your time and allow me to learn more and more.

    Hello,
several days have passed but I have not received any answer to my questions.
Could you please find some time to answer me?
The questions I posted serve to give me the opportunity to learn, and they are not polemically introduced, of course.
Thank you all for your time and I apologize in advance for boring you.

I can't answer any of your questions however there were many painting in this genre done on porcelain tiles/plaques. Many were German (though for whatever reason this seems Italian to me but I really don't know). What I will say is that the marks on the back of the tile/porcelain often tell where it was made. For example KPM though I'm not suggesting yours is KPM. Have you looked at the back?

    hello everyone, I proceeded to remove the tile / porcelain from the frame;
the back was soiled by the adhesive glue of the brown scotch.
I proceeded to clean it and there are some writings.
They are not very clear, my feeling is that there is still a thin spongy patina between me and porcelain.
Difficult to understand, I hope you can help me.
Thank you all for your time

I wish I could help but I can't read it very well and don't have any in depth knowledge.

I want it to say Made in GDR but I'm not sure that it does. I also want it to say the other word is one of the German for hand painted or hand made but I really can't read it.

You do a very good job taking pictures. All I can suggest it side lighting or trying different lighting types to see if you can read any of the words. It looks like you've got a fair amount of information there, at least about the maker of the tile/plaque.
