Sadly in poor condition but any thoughts please about the age of this ring?
The ‘stones’ are glass so no excitement there.
Marked 9ct SIL but it’s been enlarged at some point and that section has an 8 on it (which I think is meaningless as that bit tests as 9ct too so not 18ct)
Presume British due to the ct? The band appears to be gold and the surround and shoulders are silver.
The adjustment hasn’t been done prettily and the gold looks scorched in places that laughs in the face of my sunshine cloth:sour:
So I suppose my question is, is this a scrapper or does it have anything to make it worth saving?
Seems sad to scrap something someone cared enough about to get it enlarged but I’m just a softie.
I’ve got the missing gems as they fell out when I was cleaning it.
    Thanks for looking :)

You don't get much for the mixed metal ones as scrap due to the added cost of separating the metals. You would almost certainly be better off resetting the stones and selling it at auction (or just include the loose stones in a packet if you don't want to reset them). It does look typically English, probably early part of the 2nd qtr 20th C. The stones could be a number of things, the most common I see on this type of ring is garnet with paste surround.

A silver (or chrome) polish on a qtip will get the black off the gold/silver.

That 9ct SIL mark was used between the wars. I've a few like that. 8 might refer to a size - is it about an O or P ?
