I picked up this unusual box today. Inside, it has a rounded bottom. Picture has a transferware dot matrix, but looks old. Crazing throughout. The label on the inside appears to be from an antiques/fine art storage facility. Charming little image. I haven't had any luck finding it.

FOUND IT: It's a Prattware jar, depicting The Shrimpers!

They look like these pieces that I got off a table lot. Mine originally held "Patum Peperium The Gentleman's Relish". When I researched them I saw many different types of lids.

Thank you! It didn't occur to me that it might have contained foodstuff, although it's certainly large enough to hold a good amount. I'll do more research.

Might also have held a salve of some kind.
    What is the size?

    Nice. Prattware can be expensive.

It held potted shrimps. Those with the horses on are 1970s/80s or so. THe Shrimpers one is 19th C. Pratt ones with images are generally food.

Aquitaine Is What It IS! But NEVER BORED!

So, 'The Gentleman's Relish' is actually is actually "anchovy paste"!!! I was a bit nervous to ask here....a bit dubious as to what the answers might be!:p:smug::smuggrin::D:D Nice little 'boxes' though!!!
