Porcelain Hand Painted Huge Planter? lamp base?

    This piece is at one of the local thrifts. it measures about 18" across
    I took a good look at it and it is hand painted. There is a lip on the top rim like for either an insert or lid" But the hole on the bottom indicates planter or lamp" The price isn't cheap though.

    There's no entry in Lehner's for anyone named Bassett. I wonder whether they were decorators only or perhaps retailers?

    B & H Is probably the maker of the lamp which I didn't see at the thrift. Excellent searching Janet!

    Yes, but it's hard to tell from the picture if this hole was an afterthought. All these things with holes need something to catch drips.

    The hole looks like it was born there. Lamp base is possible.
