Portrait Photo of a Woman, Who, Where, When?

This was a yard sale find for $2.00. When i got it home and took it out of the frame and found it had been trimmed, but found the mark
on the lower left. Can't quite make it out. looks like Hartsomething
and Cal maybe for California.
She measures 10 1/2" x 13 3/4". Maybe someone famous lol..

With her hair styled as it is (marceled?) I'm thinking later 20s into the 30s.

I agree on Hartsomething, but have no idea what the end says.

Agree re date and hairstyle. Bob with marcel wave. May say "Cal" sans city because he had a chain of photographic studios. Don't recognize her as someone famous. Dramatic shot but quite a modest frame.

I'm sure the frame is not original since the print has been trimmed to fit it.
He did photograph a lot of silent film stars.
Maybe someone will know her.
