Hello! I recently purchased this krug for my dad for his birthday. I’ve gone down a research rabbit hole in a “the more I learn, the less I know” kind of way. What I think I’ve discovered is that it’s a cobalt salt glazed stoneware piece originating from Westerwald sometime prior to 1891, but at this point I’m not sure. There are no defining markers on the pewter lid or the body of the vessel, only what’s been inscribed on the bottom. It is incredibly ornate all the way around with a pretty hefty ornate handle as well. There are no signs of cracks, chips, or repair other than spider cracks under the glaze and imperfections and bumps in the glaze itself. I’d like to definitively identify place and date of origin, as well as what this crest/ coat of arms depicts. I’m waiting on pictures of the side of the vessel as well as confirmation of the color inside the vessel. Any assistance would be appreciated. IMG_3653.jpeg IMG_3651.jpeg IMG_3653.jpeg

Here are additional photos. The inside is cream colored with grey flecks. The color differential in the flower bunches all the way around is demonstrated in one of the attached photos.
