Featured Pottery Dog Face String Holder

    Hi,
    I picked this fellow up today - he is a keeper for me but wonder if I can find anything out about him. This was broken and has been repaired, some writing inside but I can't make out what it says. what I think I see is a E. or C. G. or W. something, then WPE Hand something and then pottery. The glaze/colours are darker than shown in the photos
    5 3/4"L x 4 1/2"W.
    any information appreciated

    Very cute glazed dog head, looks like it has some age, I think it's more likely meant to be hung on the wall, with the hole at the top. Maybe hobbyist piece?

    Doesn't say Handpainted, currently looks more like the word Handle to me, although every time I look it seems to say something different. I even (briefly) thought that the last line said Patterson, instead of Pottery.

    Very cute! :) I tried several guesses on Google, came up empty handed. Hope someone can ID this guy!

    Looking again with morning eyes and not tired ones.
    Possibly C. M. Big circles are the ones I'm not sure about.
    Maybe it is "By" hana ? Pottery.

    Wow, thanks for all the replies folks:) I agree, everytime I look at it I see something different.
    Yes, this would have hung on the wall and probably fell off which would explain the break.
    I suspect this will be another unknown that lives in my house, it has lots of company lol.
    If I find anything out I'll post it here.
