Hello Everyone - I've got this vase that I can't quite figure out. It stands 8" high. Bottom is unmarked. My best guess is a Japanese take on Roseville but I'm not sure. Anybody recognize it? Thanks for whatever help you can provide.

I tend to agree with your assessment or Japanese majolica. I like it.

It is very much like Roseville cherry blossom pattern but definitely not Roseville. While I suppose it could be Japanese, my money would be on it being modern and Chinese. That ground bottom with the green is pretty telling.

Here is the corresponding Roseville piece.

That green is felt, isn't it.
In the 60's & 70's everyone put that on the bottom of everything....so it wouldn't scratch the wood mantle !

That's what I thought it was. Or, what is left of a paper-covered bottom.

Thanks for the opinions, folks. I would like to say the green bottom ring is the remains of felt but I believe verybrad is right and it's green paint. I had no idea it was that close to an actual Cherry Blossom shape. It's a big cut above the Roseville repros I usually see. The quality of the Chinese pieces is definitely improving! I wonder why they paint the bottom ring green? Fortunately it was a $5 investment and I knew at the time it wasn't Roseville. I just thought it was neat. :)

For some reason a lot of the new Chinese imported pottery is coming in with ground bottoms with a stain/paint on them. They are not always green. I have also seen yellow, orange, and brown.
