I inherited this and had it reupholstered which cost almost $150. I've moved into a much smaller home and now it's just in the way and taking up a lot of room. I wanted to sell it to just break even, and posted it on CraigsList and Marketplace, but have not had any interest in it. An antique dealer came to look at other items I had for sale and I show it to him in the hopes he might be interested. He said he has a whole room full of antique chairs he can't sell.

    Any advice appreciated.

Tough sale these days. I doubt you will recoup your money. I just saw a similar era, nicer form, settee priced at $55.00 at the thrift store. Still sitting there after a week.

I know what you mean. Antiques seem to be cold turkey around here. I also inherited a piecrust tilt-top table. It was very heavy and clumsy to move and I always ended up getting pinched somewhere when I tried to move it. I started out at $100, then dropped to $50 and then $25, but received no nibbles. I had a post-moving sale and finally had to let it go for $10 just to get rid if it. It did have some condition issues, mainly water spots in the finish.

Every time I think that antique furniture is recovering I read more threads like this.
The O.P.’s chair is beautiful, but @verybrad is right: most antique chairs don’t sell. So sad, because they are so often beauties in their own right. After putting $150 into it I would just find some way to keep it.

Around here I honestly can't see the OP breaking even on this. One estate sale company does well with furniture, but even they might not hit $100 with it.
