Since I am just getting into this, I have no idea what things are worth. Ive been told many times that "Things are worth what someone is willing to pay." This mystifies me as how am I supposed to know what that figure is. Also, one person may offer more than another.
Looking at sold items on places like eBay is usually not helpful as prices of like-items sell for are all over the place. Take for instance, this Lalique "Le Jade" perfume bottle. I've seen it posted for anywhere from $20 to over $1000. I like it myself and will likely keep it.

As one who resells in malls, I use Ebay's sold prices. I take into consideration condition and try to find a midpoint. I also look at what I have invested in it and where I'm putting it. If it sits for too long, I recheck sold prices and adjust accordingly. In a brick & mortar store, the right person has to lay eyes on it so sometimes you just have to wait. Online you're competing with many others with the same widget so you really have to be competitive.

I agree with Linda. There's a lot of guesswork involved, but you can kind of figure it out by the sold listings. I'd keep that perfume bottle too!

Asking prices are not a perfect reference, but this does have value. Looks like a few did sell in the $1-2.5K range over a decade ago. Not sure if values for this kind of thing have stayed the same, gone up or gone down. I would think not down. It's stunning.

I find eBay sold items and other sites with final sale prices a really good pointer of what people are willing to pay. Best metric there is really.

    Hi Linda
You have an original Rene Lalique Le Jade IMO.
That said I would see it selling in the $1500 to $2500 range with no damage. Here are a couple that have sold in the last 5 years. If you had the original box the price is much higher Screenshot_20250319-123807_copy_648x1440.png Screenshot_20250319-123854_copy_648x1440.png Screenshot_20250319-123759_copy_648x1440.png

@Deb D. Had that perfume, I just commented about finding a price for it. Looks like that's a good one!

    Right. :)

If one actually sold for $6,300 that is a piece of info when trying to get a value range. But looks like that high priced one, shown as sold on WP, actually did not sell in the end.

It's a fabulous perfume and one of the sold auctions did bring over $2.5K, so it's quite valuable. Boy if this was mine I'd have a hard time selling it. It's beautiful.

The $6300 had the original box. Sold or not the box brings a hefty premium

Agree. The box definitely adds value, but maybe not an extra $4K.
