Featured Primitive 5/8" X 3/4" Wrench: 'M' in Diamond No 1253

Charming ain't a word commonly associated with cold iron, but there are several aspects of this I find so. ~7" long, 1/4" thick, 6.35 ounces.
It's been stamp-sheared from hot-rolled steel, with little if any finishing effort evident. If simple function is beauty, this is tres magnifique!

But seriously, folks...who made it?

I'll guess early 20th C, but that's all I can say with assurance. The spanner sizes marked are for the bolt-head rather than, as was the case in the 19th C, for the bolt-body diameter.

Any ideas? Thanks for lookin'!

 

My husband has a few of these and I asked him what they were for. He said they are for working on his tractors. Anyway, I found this one on ebay.

What could possibly go wrong?

 

I once went for a job interview at a place that made stamped metal garden sheds. A hundred yards away from the building, I was bouncing along the sidewalk from the force of the presses. I just turned around and left.

Looks like a tractor wrench. Model t wrenches same shape.
