Purpose of chain?

    Too small for any wrist. Delicate. The tarnished ball has a hole it slides through.

    I've never seen one like it, but seems to be a fob of some kind... Is it gold?

    It may hang from a button - for use with a quizzer (magnifier) or watch.

    Gold filled. The bead slide locks like a snare. Too fragile for utilitarian use.

    What's a snare?

    My vocab calls it a trap... Or kind of drum.

    It does seem able to hang a small object, which is basically what fobs are for...

    A snare is a trap, usually for small animals, and using a noose. Snare can also mean to trap in general or any type of trap, like the snare of a TV cliffhanger that traps you into watching again. If writers are to be believed, we are surrounded by snares.

    My first thought was a monocle chain.
    However, can only find one on pinterest that appears to have a slide type chain.
    Saw others with regular watch slides.
