There are many many examples on line of what looks to be several different levels of quality. Including current ones being made in India (maybe even with bevelled glass) This one is fairy well made (I thought) I was thinking it looks maybe ‘handmade’ and not so much mass produced and maybe vintage? But Iam really not sure.. But an attractive little item nonetheless. It’s 8cm x 8cm. So what do you all think? Is it perhaps vintage? Thank you for any comments

Sides look to be crystal glass? No sure what to think regarding the age of mirror part but doesn’t look very old to me..

Nice box. The wire hinges make me think India. The felt maybe 1970s-80s?

Is the loop in the centre, for a watch or so, or is it on the side as part of the closure?

I have a couple of pieces fairly similar to this, bought at crafts shows, probably 1985-95, as well as other artisan-made glass boxes from the same period. The shapes & metal work on mine are different from yours, different from each other. A lot of beautiful glass work was being done then, by many different makers.

Was wondering about the wire loop but it looks to be part of the closure and securing. The green felt makes me think of my grandmother. So not really so much vintage then and still maybe from India. Thanks AJ

Thank you for the reply. I hear you,so
it sounds impossible to pinpoint the age and true origin (with all the variations, different makers and India in the mix) Well it’s a nicely made little box. Just call it 80’s or so.

Wire loop is to hold and display a pocket watch, if I remember correctly.

That is what I thought, but it looked off centre, so I asked:
    ;)

The watch wouldn't hang in the middle; it would hang closer to the back side so it could be viewed better from the front.
