This was bought in the UK. Its a massive painting believed to be Queen Elizabeth, or is it princess Diana? Thought in the beginning that it had no signature but the stretcher is stamped, which what looks like to me like a seal mark in red, thought this is maybe asian? The woman looks like she is wearing asian clothes and got a asian like painted face? Here face is also painted with naked figures. The other figures surrounding here also look asian?

Any ideas on this? Origins, age, artist?

It's Lady Diana... and not a very good likeness.

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

Yes, it's Diana -- the dark hair may have been done to emphasize Asian qualities, as the clothing is. Why, I don't know. Artists do a lot of things...

Diana. That's the tiara the Queen Mother gave her.

Appears to be a copy of this official portrait (which I've cropped.)

This looks for all the world like it came from Dafen, the painters' "village" in Shenzhen, right across from Hong Kong. The motto there is, "We paint what sells. Again and again." You can probably find that same background used for other merchantable portraits.

Thx, Indeed very similair Deborah. Yes it's not a good likeness but i've seen stranger works.. It's only the way it's painted (techniques) which made me curious to research it. The artist new what he was doing.

True. Thought about that. But this was appears to be more professional. Those village painters were focused on mass production and painted very fast. This painting would not fit into that. This one has taken time. I've just uploaded some other pics from up closer. See the details in here face etc.

I don't think it's Diana. The nose is all wrong. I think it's Rita Hayworth.

Am I the only one who sees naked people all over her face and dress?

I agree, I don't think it is Diana either.
And the tiara is not a match.

I meant the one in the photo.

The painting is a similar tiara frame, sans pearls for some reason.

And Diana was such a well liked personality with a tragic end. What purpose to put her in a bed of laughing comic faces?
