    Hi everyone:

I haven't found this particular Navajo woman subject, "Cheeta," yet online, but some of Gorman's art has done quite well on eBay. I think this is a basic litho. There's a stock number but no indication of a numbered series. Being a print, though, I'm assuming there are many more out there.

This piece measures about 34 x 28" (the exposed art about 28 x 22"). There is some sort of stamp in the lower left corner.

There are condition issues with the frame, including broken upper left corner glass and poor storage or transport nicks around the middle. There are some mold spots on the back as well.

Any comments on value, de- or re-framing, or anything about the piece would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

The glass in the frame has some issues and there is some mold on the back.

If I decide to have my eBay guy list it, I'm afraid these condition issues will detract from sale price. Also, I've had problems with shipping pieces that are framed in glass. Honestly, I'm not even sure how best to ship it if I do get rid of the frame.

The thickness of the paper of the print can determine whether it can be safely rolled into a large tube for shipping. If it will easily roll, suggest you roll it backwards with a piece of acid free paper loose but on the front to protect it. Keep the edges over an inch away from the end of the tube ...

Otherwise, keep it in the frame without glass and bunker up the back to ship it. Mention the damage as spots on the back and if they affect the print or not. You must open this up to see, to describe it properly anyway. I would include all of the written info and stickers on the back with the sale.

unless that siggnature is real, it's basically a poster.....of little to no value...:sorry::sorry:

Great advice, Anti! I like this option over the other as tubes are generally inexpensive, good protection for transit, and weigh a lot less than frames. Thx!

    ya....welll..........
    fyi...
    ya got two mats there
the black one has already yellowed due to it's acid content......and that poster is almost certainly taped to the mat......

so...in this case...the paper will have a yellow line around the edge...and residue from the low quality tape used to hold it to the mat.....

I've been rolling prints for 39 years......but I do like to send smaller ones flat....

It's actually best to ship ANY print flat, I agree. Like you noted, (most likely) it's basically just a poster at this point. Yes, it will surely have a yellowed edge that should also be noted in the listing.

I agree I expanded the close up photo, looks like an offset lithograph. Little to no value.
