    FullSizeRender-compressed (1).jpg FullSizeRender(1)-compressed.jpg FullSizeRender-compressed.jpg FullSizeRender(2)-compressed.jpg Hello all,
I recently picked this up-such an odd thing-I initially thought it was just an ugly weird candlestick and, since I by a lot of ugly weird stuff, I bought it. Upon doing some research I discovered that the top metal part looks much like a trench art lighter...I am left wondering which war? and wondering if it was stuck in the glass holder as a gift for a loved one or as a momento...has anyone seen anything like this before?
It does spark but I can't get it to light. Sadly the soldering of the stem, where the flint is kept, has failed so that is wobbly. Would it be kerosene-soaked fluff inside?
    Any thoughts welcome!
    Many thanks
    Vix

    Welcome,

    Good photos.

The lighter is probably from WWI and possibly Trench Art but the candle stick is a marriage in my opinion.

Thanks. Yes, it was a curious thing to do-sort of works as an idea but doesn't really work visually.

Not even going to say what my first thought was when I saw it. Probably what some GI/Tommy thought when he first saw that lighter too.
