Remember this marble top?

Some of you will remember that old chest with nice pulls and a marble top. I tried to put it back together but it was beyond me. I removed the pulls and other hardware, put the wood in the basement, and now I want to put the marble top on Craigslist - to get it OUT of the house.
    My questions:
    1. Does anyone know what kind of marble this is?
    2. Is the vein naturally filled with some other kind of stone ie: quartz, or was it artificially filled?
I believe the chest was made in the late 1800s.

The usual term is breccia marble.

That wants to be reused in the worst way. Bathroom counter, bar top, something.

Take a good look at the back too. It is a little hard to believe that piece made it into production with a long line that looks just like a crack, but I can't tell for sure without having it in hand.

Hey - I was told by a mason that these kind of naturally filled veins were considered an asset.
