    Hi,
this isn't jewelry but figured the jewel folks will know. Trying to figure out what this is made of. On the base there are popped bubbles that you see on resin pieces, cool to the touch, feels waxy smooth. The 2nd photo is taken with a flash, almost looks like letters on the base - 4 3/4"H
    any information appreciated
    thanks for looking

    Hi Cxgirl!
    That’s a nice bear! :)
For the material, open bubbles on base and swirls in the color... that leans tovard resin, looking alike nephrite jade:rolleyes:

Waxy isn't how resin generally feels, unless maybe it needs to be cleaned. Some kinds of stone do have that feel, but think you are both correct, the little pits on the bottom - & as well as I can see, only on the bottom - would indicate something that stared life as a liquid.

Greg Wolf produces a line of totems, and possibly bears, using a resin that has a mottled greenish color; this might be one of his.
Here's a detail from one of his items:

He is very cute, I like him.
Agree with Steve, resin. It has the same swirls, and there is a little hole in the base, a bubble maybe?

@cxg - I started a post here on Sept. 5, 2017 on a similar piece, on Tamarack soapstone.
Sorry I'm not sufficiently savvy to get it to carry over, but try searching with those terms.
I think mine may be resin.

Though this piece looks similar to the Greg Wolf cast items I've seen, I think upon reflection that it is probably not one of his; does look similar to the one in the "Tamarack" thread, which does seem to me to be a somewhat different resin composition.
While many resin castings are very uniform in color, it is entirely possible to have resin that is swirled or mottled in appearance, and there are a number of companies making such items.
This is a cute little guy, but I think most likely resin rather than stone.

Thank-you LibraryLady & SBSVC:), they look like twins!
Thank-you all_fakes! Yes, certainly a resin piece, the shape looks the same as the Tamarack piece.
