Hello, I have found this light and know nothing about it other than I like it's looks. I am right now in the process of re wiring it. I have looked all over the internet and can find nothing about it and have no idea its age. I would like to hang it from some type of chain about five feet from the ceiling but can't see how I would do that. Was this light only supposed to be flush mount to the ceiling? Does anyone here have any info or could help direct me with this project? IMG_3808ab.jpg

What is on the label, can you provide a close up of it, please?

Nice, though it wouldn't work in my house....
It does look like it was flush-mounted. A lighting or electrical store should have the hardware you'd need to convert it to hanging; or you could probably improvise something yourself using common lighting parts from a box-store.

    Wow, its really something.

When you get a close up of the remnants of the label, wouldn't mind seeing a pic from the side (just selfishly want to see it.)

    Cool!

Screams late 50s into early 60s. If you do convert it, make sure it's in such a way you don't destroy the originality.

Here are some pics of the labels, looks like one is totally missing and appeared to be rectangle. I would show a pic of the side but at the moment it is totally disassembled. IMG_3827a.jpg IMG_3828ab.jpg

First, thanks for all of the help! Second, the little pieces that hold the colored pieces to the metal rods have patina but appear to have been shiny brass. Should I clean them to look brass again or leave the patina?

Are you keeping it, or planning to sell?

At this point I am planning on keeping it, we live at the beach in NC and have a place to hang it that we believe will look really nice. However, if it does not look good in the space I would probably sell it as I would not have a use for it. By the way, I like your dogs, I have one of those rotten things also, tri color.

Usually people here recommend leaving as much original if planning to sell, but wait for other replies. Yup, love this breed, (and all others, too)! :)

Perfect, I can just leave them as is for now, they are easy enough to remove and do later if needed.

Here is somewhat the finished product. Last pic is just a flash light lighting it up. IMG_3837a.jpg IMG_3838a.jpg IMG_3838a.jpg IMG_3838a.jpg IMG_3839a.jpg IMG_3840a.jpg IMG_3841a.jpg IMG_3842a.jpg IMG_3842a.jpg
