Retro Movie Poster Like Illustration Painting

Obviously a recent painting. Looks Ok from a distance but I think it is by an amateur.
Wonder if this could be after a movie poster or maybe comic cover? Or just an artist vision?

Someone enamored of Roy Lichtenstein.

Compare to Lichtenstein's "Kiss V", 1964.

 

That hand is painfully bad.

That hand would have been hard to reproduce in any case.

kardinal, not to sound nagging, but Roy Lichetenstein is one of the most famous artists of the 20th century. If you continue to deal in art, you really need to do some research on artists. Asking here is fine, but I can't see going out and spending money on pieces if you don't first know anything about it or you could be making financial mistakes.

 

Thanks for the advice. I call such pieces study ones. I pay a buck or two. If it sells for cheap its ok, if not just ditch them. So, I know what not to buy next time.

Also, look up Sturgeon's Law (or Sturgeon's Revelation) that suggests that 90 percent of everything is pure crap. I would argue that as far as art is concerned the number jumps closser to 95% (and at thrift shops 99.9%).

 

That may be , but the hunt for the diamond in the rough is what keeps one searching through cast off items where ever they may be.

Westmount yard sale several years back, a guy shows up at my Gallery asking about this framed print he just bought for $30.
It was a mint Kenojuak from Cape Dorset.......I told him $ 800 to $1200.
You should'a seen the smile on his face !!!!

That's just a small example .....but it's stories like that , that keeps the flame alive !
