I inherited this and had a tough time selling it. It was at my sales since mom passed in 2006. It was quite large - like 3 feet by 2.5 feet if I remember. I do recall her buying it at a yard sale for $100 in the mid 1980s. It had an ornate plaster frame.

One time a woman looked at it and remarked that it gave her the creeps. Then a young couple stopped at my sale and they looked at it for quite some time and had a tet-a-tet for a while. Then the man asked if I would take $50. I said I would. More murmuring together. Then he said, "Would you take $25?" I agreed to that, then he asked if I'd take $10. I was getting pretty annoyed by this time, but agreed to that just to get rid of it since there hadn't been any interest in it and it was heavy to lug in and out. Then they walked away without buying. What was that all about?

I did finally sell it some time after that for $25.

    just my opinion....
either they were just having fun at your expense ............
    or.....
by the time u accepted 10 bucks , they figured that everything else at your sale was overpriced.......and they lost interest !

Looks to be in good shape for that kind of painting. They are so fragile.

That is a shame that people are doing that. I have never seen anything like that around here, most ask for a lower price and then if the seller says ok, they take it.
    Sorry for their dumb behavior.

You shouldn't have to apologize for other people's behavior. ;)

It was starting to flake around the edges. Not very noticeable on the photo. I had to hunt for the photo - it's been so long I forgot in what folder and file it was.

Shoot, these days few people apologize for their own behavior!

    You got that right!

If everyone that promised to come and buy what I have on Marketplace and NextDoor and actually showed up, I'd have half the items I do.

Baumgartner (is it?) did a video where he restored a reverse glass painting of the Titanic. I had to wonder if it was worth the effort, but then the subject was the Titanic.

Same here, which is why I don't do that anymore. It drained what little energy I had, just not worth it. So for me it is shipping only.

I hated doing pick-up. If someone insisted, I would name a local restaurant where they could meet me. That way, they would have no expectation of me being available 24-7 at their leisure.
