I didn't want to barge in on @kyratango 's Kyratisation thread!
I found this 800 silver Swiss watch on eBay for only $10.
I couldn't just leave it there, all alone and sad! I had to rescue it.

Chipped enamel, no crystal, broken hour hand, tarnished, not working.
So I removed the tarnish, and fabricated a new crystal from the lid of a plastic gem jar. I beveled it with the Dremel tool and a hand file so it would snap into place with no glue.
Unfortunately, I couldn't get the watch to work, but it will be a pretty pendant.

I cleaned the tarnish in the chipped areas with Tarn-X on a Q-tip.
Then I mixed pink and clear nail polish together and dabbed it on with a toothpick.

This is exactly why I had to have this watch! The back of the case was pristine.
The guilloche is drool-worthy, and I couldn't bear the fact that it was lonely and unloved:)

@stracci :woot:!!! Master salvage of a sweeeeet little watch!
The crystal replacing is a brilliant idea, and must have been time consuming to adjust so precisely :)
I’m so happy to see others who can’t leave alone pretty wounded pieces, BRAVO!!!

I knew before I bought this watch that I would have to replace the crystal. I looked around the house a bit, and decided to cut a crystal from the lid of a gem jar. The gem jar lid is curved just right for this application. On my first try, I cracked the plastic. But on the second try, I got the hang of how pliant the plastic was. It took me about an hour to bevel it just right to snap into the ring. It is slightly higher than the original crystal, based on some other watches that I have, but it will do!
