    Hello All!

I’ve had this for a few years. I’m fairly certain it’s an order for nails during the Revolutionary War.

I’m having a hard time making out some of the words and am hoping someone might be able to help.

Has anyone ever heard the names that are in the order as well?... Charles Merrill / Edw? Barnard

The photos are front and back

Figtree3 What would you do if you weren't afraid?

The names are Eben. Barnard, Junr. (Junior) and Charles Merrill, both from Hartford (Connecticut?). I have seen Eben listed as an old name but it appears that it has a period after it so it is probably short for Ebenezer.

In case you can't read the dates, on one side it's June 25th, 1781 and the other side is June 26th, same year.

As for the rest of the text .. on the front is it for “four penny nails?” - on the back it seems like “authorization for 500 nails”

Yes, and under the four penny nails line it says "At the same time, Rec'd the amount above."
